A survey on the status for construction of mental health promotion model in Seoul

Abstract
Objective£ºThe objective of this study was to examine the present situation of mental health promotion programs in the community mental health center and to provide the basis for new framework of mental health promotion services in the future. Methods: Survey was done from the team manager of community mental health centers. We accomplished the second survey of using telephone and e-mail to improve the accuracy of data. Results: 45.2% of budget was allocated to the Child & Adolescent services and 42.4% to depression & suicide prevention services. The Mean number of staff was 2.3(depression & suicide prevention), 2.1(Child & Adolescent), and 1.0(Alcohol addiction). In the alcohol addiction and child & adolescent services, the proportion of counseling and programs for high risk population was higher. The activities for primary prevention to the general population were more accomplished in the depression and suicide prevention services. Conclusion: It is necessary to provide standard service guidelines and to implement evidence-based programs for mental health promotion.
